This Is Me (3.20.18)

The Oscars should have seized the moment and awarded the Oscar for Best Original Song to “This Is Me” from The Greatest Showman. My subconscious DJ sent me the song during my dream state last night. What an empowering song for people to hear and sing to inspire them to be their true selves despite what mainstream consciousness believes. Now is the time to shake off preconceived notions about who you have been and be your true, honest, full, and complete self – warts and all!

Instead, the song that won Best Original Song was “Remember Me” from Coco. I enjoyed the movie Coco and believe it is important to honor and remember our deceased loved ones. I get the song. I get the message. But right now at this moment in time, it is critical for people to wake up and be their true selves, not dwell on the past and deceased loved ones. As a matter of fact, our deceased loved ones are with us every time we think about them. They surround us with love and support us every moment, because life is about love and connection, not hate and isolation.

New Age thinking advocates “living in the present.” “This is Me” is the perfect mantra to live in the present. “This is Me” is also the perfect antidote for people living in the past and feeling stuck. Right now it is imperative that people embrace their individual selves to be the best people that they can possibly be and work together collectively to lift each other up to further greatness.

We are at a defining moment in our society – do we want everyone to look alike, think alike, and be alike, or do we want to “Think different,” be different, and look different? Aren’t we all striving for the same things in life? We want to be loved, we want to love, we want to feel safe, we want to laugh, we want to be liked, we want to feel accepted, we want to feel appreciated, we want to be happy, we want to be free.

This past week I realized that I am weird, crazy, and insane. And I’m okay with all of these typically perceived “negative” labels, because in order for me to be courageous, different, unique, and extraordinary, I have to embrace the energy and pathway of being weird, crazy, and insane to bust out of the norms and mass consciousness in our society. So what do you think? What version of yourself do you want to be – remembering and dwelling on your past or inviting your deceased loved ones with you on a journey to create your new and exciting present and future? We create what we live. We live what we create.

“This is Me”
I am not a stranger to the dark
Hide away, they say
‘Cause we don’t want your broken parts
I’ve learned to be ashamed of all my scars
Run away, they say
No one’ll love you as you are
But I won’t let them break me down to dust
I know that there’s a place for us
For we are glorious
When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I’m gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I’m meant to be, this is me
Look out ’cause here I come
And I’m marching on to the beat I drum
I’m not scared to be seen
I make no apologies, this is me
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh, oh
Another round of bullets hits my skin
Well, fire away ’cause today, I won’t let the shame sink in
We are bursting through the barricades and
Reaching for the sun (we are warriors)
Yeah, that’s what we’ve become (yeah, that’s what we’ve become)
I won’t let them break me down to dust
I know that there’s a place for us
For we are glorious
When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I’m gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I’m meant to be, this is me
Look out ’cause here I come
And I’m marching on to the beat I drum
I’m not scared to be seen
I make no apologies, this is me
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh, oh
This is me
and I know that I deserve your love
(Oh-oh-oh-oh) ’cause there’s nothing I’m not worthy of
(Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh, oh)
When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I’m gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
This is brave, this is proof
This is who I’m meant to be, this is me
Look out ’cause here I come (look out ’cause here I come)
And I’m marching on to the beat I drum (marching on, marching, marching on)
I’m not scared to be seen
I make no apologies, this is me
When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I’m gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
I’m gonna send a flood
Gonna drown them out
Oh
This is me
